Cowboy charged with DUI

On Behalf of | Oct 25, 2021 | Drunk Driving |

These past couple of years have been hard on everyone. It has been a crazy, infuriating, scary and just all-around bad time. And, as we continue to get back to normal, slowly, one of the things that has come back is drinking, specifically, social drinking. Of course, when we bring back social drinking or drinking outside the house, we naturally, bring back drunk driving, and one of our very own Cowboys has been arrested on a DUI charge.

The DUI charge incident and arrest

According to the Colony Police Department, starting Cowboys safety, Damontae Kazee is the one that was arrested. He was arrested around 3:00 a.m. in the Colony, Texas, near the team’s Frisco practice facility. Tuesday morning, and he was charged with driving under the influence. The Colony Police Department claims that they pulled over Mr. Kazee after “observing signs of impairment.” They also claim that he admitted to drinking and failed a field sobriety test. Though, his tested blood-alcohol concentration was not reported by the CPD.

After the arrest, he was taken to the Colony Municipal Jail. He was later released on $2,500 bail.

The most important question: how does this affect the Cowboys?

This arrest occurred during a bye week, and the Cowboys are aware of the arrest. It appears that the team has not decided to bench him, and the NFL has not released any penalties either. So, at least for right now, the arrest does not appear to affect the Cowboys, but that could change in the future.

What can we learn?

For Houston, Texas, residents, the main takeaway is that drunk driving can affect anyone, and the police are willing to arrest anyone they suspect of it. However, this does not mean that those charged, including our Cowboy here, is not without recourse. A strong criminal defense is the first step.
